Initiate Jio eSIM request
Open the MyJio app, search for 'Switch to eSIM' and select the option 'Switch to eSIM'. You’ll be asked to verify your email ID. Enter the OTP sent to your registered email. Once verified, also provide the EID of the device on which you wish to activate the eSIM.
Verify it’s you
Next, submit the OTP sent to your mobile number to proceed with your request. As per DoT guidelines, a 2-hour cooling period applies after submission. Once it’s over, you’ll get an automated call for confirmation.
Confirm your request
Simply answer the automated call from +91 2235072222 and press the number prompted to confirm your Jio eSIM request. If you happen to miss the IVR call, just SMS ‘RECALL’ to 199 to get another callback.

Can I convert a physical SIM to eSIM?
Upgrading to eSIM through the self-care process on the MyJio App is quick and easy, and you can complete it anytime at your convenience.
- Step 1: Open the MyJio app. Go to the search field, type "eSIM" and tap on "Switch to eSIM”
- Step 2: Confirm your email address and proceed. Then, enter the EID of the device where you want to activate the eSIM
- Step 3: Authenticate your request by entering the OTP sent to your Jio number and confirming via the IVR
After sharing your confirmation on IVR call, your eSIM request will take 2 hours to process.
Once your eSIM request is successfully processed, you'll receive an eSIM profile notification on your device or an eSIM profile QR code via email from notification@Jio.com at your email id, Follow the instructions to install the eSIM on your device, please refer to the step-by-step process guide for more details

Are there any prerequisites for upgrading to Jio eSIM?
Yes, apart from an eSIM compatible device, it is mandatory to have your email ID updated in your account as we’ll be sharing information for the eSIM profile.
Are there any charges for upgrading to Jio eSIM?
You are not required to pay any charges to upgrade to Jio eSIM.
How long does it take to upgrade to Jio eSIM?

You may see the error message ‘Unable to Transfer Phone Number. Your network provider needs more information before they can transfer your phone number to this iPhone. Error Code: 999’ while upgrading to eSIM for iPhone if your email ID is not registered with Jio.
- To fix this, update your email ID in the MyJio app and then retry the eSIM upgrade.
- Step 1: Open the MyJio app
- Step 2: Use the search bar and type ‘Update my Email ID’
- Step 3: Follow the on-screen steps to register or update your email ID
