Smart IoT Solutions
Smart IoT Solutions
Internet-of-Things (IoT) is not just about collecting sensor data from physical world (e.g. temperature, humidity, etc.) and exchanging this data with other devices and systems over the internet, but it also comprises of deriving intelligence from processing theis huge data into actionable in-sights. The objective of IoT is “Action based on sensor driven Intelligence”. For cellular connectivity of IoT devices, 3GPP has standardized communication technologies such as NB-IoT (Narrow Band-IoT) and LTE-M. mMTC, a new service category of 5G that supports extremely high connection density of IoT devices, relies on NB-IoT and LTE-M and enables use cases in verticals such as manufacturing, health care, smart cities, energy, logistics and agriculture. In addition to it, ultra-reliable low latency communication (uRLLC) use cases such as industrial robotics, drones, autonomous bots, etc. are now possible due to the advance features offered by 5G network such as network slicing, low latency communication, higher bandwidth, mobile edge computing, etc.
IoT products portfolio consists of 4G and 5G IoT core network nodes and IoT Platform enabling IoT use cases across diverse industry verticals for both IP-based as well as Non-IP devices. With the help of JPL’s IoT products, enterprises and CSPs can build and deploy innovative and complex IoT solutions within a short turnaround time to unleash the full potential of IoT. In terms of scalability, the solutions can be quickly expanded to support thousands of enterprises and millions of IoT devices. These solutions are pre-integrated with JPL’s analytics platform ATOM, which generates rich and informative insights. Enterprise and CSPs can choose the products and features which best suit their requirements.

IoT product offering are listed below:
4G IoT Core
4G IoT Core network elements include 3GPP compliant HSS, PCRF, SCEF, DRA and SMSC, supports all the features and functionality for NB-IoT and LTE-M devices such as IoT devices authentication and authorization, Non-IP devices registration and MO-MT data transfer, MONTE registration and reporting, SMS delivery, device triggering procedures, policy control and enforcement. It supports for both IP-based as well as Non-IP devices. These products offer a carrier graded, fault tolerant and highly scalable cluster solution so that Enterprise and CSPs can enter into the world of connected devices with confidence.
5G IoT NR Radio and Core
Jio Platforms offers the end-to-end 5G Radio, control plane and user plane stack for realization of mMTC and uRLLC use cases. JPL’s 5G Standalone Core is a 'True 5G' solution compliant to 3GPP Release 16 and has a state-of-the-art Hyperscale architecture which leverages a software-centric modular approach, along with smart cloud capabilities of auto-scaling. It consists of 3GPP compliant AMF, SMF, AUSF, 5G-EIR, UDM, PCF, CHF, BSF, NRF, SCP, SEPP, NSSF, LMF, GMLC, NWDAF, UCMF and OCS. With JPL’s network slicing capabilities, one slice of network can be used to cater mMTC services characterized by high device density, low data rate and latency tolerant while another network slice for uRLLC service which requires high bandwidth and low latency.

Unified SCEF and NEF
Unified SCEF (Service Capability Exposure Function) and NEF (Network Exposure Function) facilitates secure, robust, developer-friendly access to network services and capabilities. This access is provided by a set of northbound RESTful (or web-style) APIs from the network domain to both internal (i.e., within the network operator’s trust domain) and external applications for enabling IoT services both in 4G and 5G networks. External exposure can be categorized as Monitoring capability, Provisioning capability, and Policy/Charging capability. The solution follows a micro service-based architecture and supports deployment in any private or public cloud environment as virtualised or containerized function.

IoT Platform
IoT platform is a user friendly and intuitive solution for on-boarding, managing, monitoring and visualization of IoT use cases. It abstracts the application developers from the complexity of different network interfaces and device protocols, by exposing unified APIs for management and data communication. It is an access-agnostic platform which can be used to integrate devices from access technology such as LTE-M, NB-IoT and 5G-NR as well as multi-protocol support like MQTT, COAP, LwM2M, HTTP and websocket. It also supports the NIDD (Non-IP data delivery) devices management and data transfer mechanism by integration with SCEF and NEF.
