B. Information related to deactivation due to non usage:
Prepaid:
In case of non-usage (no voice/video calls, outgoing SMS, data usage or usage of Value Added Services) for a continuous period of 90 days or more, the mobile number will be deactivated at the discretion of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, subjected to following;
- In case the available balance in your main account is more than Rs. 20 at the expiry of 90 days of non-usage period, Automatic Number Retention Scheme will be put into effect - Rs. 20 will be deducted from your account and the non-usage period will be extended by 30 days. This process will continue till the balance in your account is less than Rs. 20, post which your number will be deactivated.
- The Jio mobile number can be reactivated by making payment of Rs. 20 within 15 days of deactivation due to non-usage. Number will be disconnected on non-payment of said fee within this period.
Postpaid:
In case of non-usage (no voice/video calls, outgoing SMS, data usage, usage of Value Added Services or payment of rental) for a continuous period of 90 days or more, the mobile number will be deactivated at the discretion of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, subjected to following;
- Customer can opt for the Safe Custody Scheme in case of continued non-usage of a mobile number but wishes to retain your mobile number by paying in advance Rs. 150 + applicable taxes for every three months or part thereof (Rs. 50 + applicable taxes per month).
Note- Safe custody as per regulation is only for connectivity services. Jio would continue charging Platform Services Rental for customers who has opted for Safe Custody. Clear your due amount (billed & unbilled) and pay the advance safe custody charges for the required period. For extension of safe custody, safe custody charges has to be paid in advance before completion of existing period. In case of non-receipt of payment number will get disconnected. - Customer can request for restoration of number within the Safe Custody period and in such an event the number shall be re-activated within 24 hours.

D. Customer Advisory & Awareness
In respect of frauds related to installation of Mobile Tower
It has come to notice of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited that some companies / agencies / individuals cheat general public by promising hefty monthly rental payment and ask them to deposit money in their personal / companies account as security deposit / application fee / registration charges / stamp duty / government tax under Telecom Act / clearing of the advance payment etc., in lieu of leasing / renting the premises of individuals for installation of mobile tower or for any other purpose. After collecting the money these companies / agencies / individuals become unreachable. These companies / agencies / individuals at times issue fake “No Objection Certificate” for installation of tower in the name of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited.
The public at large is hereby informed that:
- A mobile tower may be installed by either Telecom Service Provider (TSP) or Infrastructure Provider (IP-1) as per their licensing / registration conditions. The updated list of TSPs and IP-1 is available on DoT website i.e. www.dot.gov.in The public at large are cautioned that before they entertain any offer for installation of tower, they should verify the authenticity of TSP/IP-1 from DoT website and the concerned TSP/IP-1.
- In case any company / agency / individual is asking for advance or for application fee or for money in any form before actual installation of tower, public is hereby cautioned to be extra careful and verify the credentials of the company.
- Any person or entity found fraudulently involved in such activity like i) taking advance etc., in the name of installation of mobile towers, ii) using name / logo / recommendations of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited is liable to be prosecuted under applicable law. If any person comes across any such fraudulent activity then he/she may report the incident to local police authorities. In addition or alternatively the local TERM Cell may also be contacted whose contact details are available on DoT website i.e. www.dot.gov.in.
Wannacry Ransomware Detection and Prevention advisories by CERT-In
- CERT-In has issued an advisory on its website on 15 May 2017 (CERTIn Advisory CIAD20170024 Wannacry/ WannaCrypt Ransomware : CRITICAL ALERT Original Issue Date: May 13, 2017) for detection and prevention of this ransomware. The same has also been published on the Cyber Swachhta Kendra website today. (http://www.cyberswachhtakendra.gov.in/alerts/wannacry_ransomware.html).
- CERT-In has issued a vulnerability note on its website (CERTIn Vulnerability Note CIVN20170032 Multiple vulnerabilities in Windows SMB Original Issue Date: March 15, 2017) with a Severity Rating of HIGH on March 15, 2017 for possible remote exploitation of this vulnerability and to apply the patch released by Microsoft for the same.
Missed calls alerts (Wangiri Calls):
- Dear Subscribers, please do not respond to missed calls / SMS from unknown international numbers with prefix other than “+91” or calls / SMS about winning prizes or lottery as these may be fraudulent calls / SMS.
- Any action on the part of any individual will be at his own risk and Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited shall not be liable in any way.
