JioExtender JE6000 selects the best path to the internet and connects to the Home Router or another JioExtender over Wi-Fi or Ethernet connectivity. All JioExtenders connect in a chain formation to extend WiFi coverage to the remote corners of your home. The topology formation depends on the home architecture and the place of installation of the JioExtender.

Typically, a single JioExtender can cover 1200 sq ft to 2000 sq ft homes, depending upon the house layout, the number of walls, and other construction factors.

How is JioExtender different from a traditional repeater?

JioExtenders are intelligent devices that ensure mobile client devices are always connected with the best frequency signal and to the closest Wi-Fi access point. This is called Mesh technology.

Unlike traditional repeaters, JioExtenders come with Mesh capabilities to intelligently direct mobile clients to ensure good coverage dynamically.

JioExtender JE6000 doesn't need separate configuration in Mesh Extender mode, whereas every repeater needs to be separately configured. In Range Extender mode (for JioFiber or non-Jio routers), Wi-Fi credentials are configured once via the JioHome App.

How to install the JioExtender?

Installing JioExtender is quick and simple.

Download and install the JioHome App from the Play Store or iOS App Store.
Log in to the JioHome App with your Registered Mobile Number (RMN) used during registration of your AirFiber or JioFiber connection, or the mobile number you wish to associate with your connection.
On the JioHome App homepage, tap the + icon at the top of the screen. On the "Add Device" screen, select WiFi Network devices. Scan the QR code on the device label on the back of the JioExtender or tap "Setup without QR code" and enter the RSN. Connect the LAN cable from the router to the WAN port of the JioExtender, then connect the power adapter and power on the device. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.

JioExtender comes with a QR code inside the box which can be used to view the Quick Startup Guide — you can always self-install the device or call the toll-free number below for setup assistance.

What is the warranty period?

How many JioExtenders can be connected to a JioAirFiber or Jio Universal Router?

A maximum of 4 JioExtender units can be connected to a JioAirFiber Home Router or Jio Universal Router — up to 3 connected via Wi-Fi in a star topology, plus 1 additional unit connected via LAN if a fourth is required.

When should you prefer to connect JioExtender on LAN?

LAN as the connectivity backhaul is recommended only when JioExtender JE6000 cannot be connected over the Wi-Fi backhaul due to weak range.

JioExtenders should be connected only with a LAN cable across floors.

Status LED is blue and blinking on JioExtender - what does this mean?

JioExtender must be added behind the AirFiber Home Router or Jio Universal Router using the JioHome App. Ensure that on the Home Router Status Page of the JioHome App, the JioExtender device is displayed. If it is not displayed, follow the instructions in the QSG to add the JioExtender device behind the Home Router, then power it on near the AirFiber Home Router or Jio Universal Router. The Status LED will turn green.

If JioExtender is already seen on the Home Router status page, power on the JioExtender device near the Home Router device. The Status LED will turn green.

Question 15

Status LED of JioExtender Device is RED and blinking when placed at desired Location – what does this mean?

Accepted Answer

A blinking RED LED means that JioExtender is not placed within the Wi-Fi range of the Home Router. Move your JioExtender device closer to the Home Router and power it on. The Status LED should turn green.

A blinking RED LED can also occur if a LAN client (device such as a laptop or Set Top Box) is connected to the WAN port (internet port) of the JE6000. Note that JE6000 has only one port — a WAN or internet port — and does not support LAN clients or your end devices. If a LAN client is connected to JioExtender, please disconnect it from the WAN or internet port.

On logging into the JioHome App, Home Router Status Page is not displayed - Why?

Check that you have logged in with the Registered Mobile Number linked to your connection — AirFiber, JioFiber or Jio Universal Router — and selected the correct Location ID. If not, log out of the app and log in again with the Registered Mobile Number. The Home Router Status Page should then be visible in the Network section of the JioHome App.

How do I connect my JioExtender to a new Router?

Accepted Answer

To connect your JioExtender to a new router, you need to first unpair it from the current router.

For Extender set up in Mesh Mode (for AirFiber/JioRouter users)

Open the JioHome app and go to the Router Status page.
Swipe the JioRouter card to the left and select the JioExtender to be unpaired.
Tap the “Delete Extender” button at the bottom of the screen.
Once confirmed, the JioExtender will be unpaired from the router.
Reset the Extender using a pin to press the reset button on the device.
You can now connect the JioExtender to any other Router by following the onboarding steps.

For Extender setup in Range Extender Mode (for JioFiber/Non-Jio WiFi users)

Open the JioHome app and go to the Router Status page.
Swipe the JioRouter card to the left and select the JioExtender to be unpaired (No swipe needed if it was paired to a non-Jio router).
Tap the “Transfer Extender” button at the bottom of the screen.
Once confirmed, reset the Extender using a PIN to press the reset button on the device.
You can now connect the JioExtender to any other Router by following the onboarding steps.

Question 19

Can I do the extender setup through web GUI instead of Mobile?

Accepted Answer

Yes.

If setup through the JioHome app does not complete — the app cannot find the Extender, or it stops before the Wi-Fi step — you can set the Extender up from its web GUI instead, after connecting the Extender to the Router through LAN. Follow the steps below:

Open the GUI: In a browser, go to https://<15 digit RSN>.local — or use the IP address the main router has assigned to the Extender. The RSN is printed on the gift box and on the device label at the back of the Extender.
Log in to the GUI: Enter the default username and password — admin / JioCentrum — then click LOGIN. If you have already created your own credentials during app setup, use those instead of the defaults.
To set up the Extender's Wi-Fi: Go to Network > Wireless. In the Wireless AP section, set the SSID and Password for both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, then click SAVE. To change the password, switch on the Change Password toggle first — the password fields stay locked while it is switched off.
To connect the Extender to your main router: In the Wireless Stations section, enable the 5 GHz entry, click the pencil (edit) icon, enter your main router's 5 GHz SSID and Password, and click SAVE. 5 GHz is recommended to use; 2.4 GHz can also be enabled the same way, using the main router's 2.4 GHz credentials.
After completing the setup, remove the LAN cable from the extender and verify that the Extender light is solid green.
