As a valued Jio user, you have exclusive access to a Recharge Reversal feature. This self-service option allows you to cancel a wrong transaction and initiate a refund—but you need to act fast. Here is everything you need to know to fix it right now.
The Eligibility Checklist:
Before you try to cancel, please ensure your transaction meets these criteria. This feature is designed exclusively for genuine mistakes:
- Exclusive Channels: Only recharges done directly via the MyJio App or Jio.com are eligible for cancellation and refund
Note: Recharges done via third-party apps (like GPay/PhonePe/Paytm), or POS machines (Retailer / Dealer) are not eligible - Eligible Customers: This service is applicable to Mobility Retail Prepaid and Postpaid customers only
- Recharges Only: Covers Prepaid and Postpaid recharges, but not Postpaid bill payments
- Time Limit:
- For standard plans: The plan must be cancelled within 3 hours of recharge
- For International Roaming or ISD Plans: The plan must be cancelled within 2 hours of recharge. However, if the plan is in "Upcoming" status, then it can be cancelled within 30 days of recharge
- Exclusions: This service is not applicable to Corporate or Enterprise segments
- Frequency Limits: You can use this feature once every 30 days (and a maximum of 3 times per calendar year)
- Recharged on a Wrong Jio Number? If you recharged the wrong Jio number, you must log in to that specific number's account to cancel the plan
How to Cancel Your Recharge (Step-by-Step)
Time is of the essence! For most standard plans, you must initiate this process within 3 hours of the successful recharge.
- Open the App: Open your MyJio App and log in
- Locate the Plan: Navigate to the "Recharges & History" section and follow the steps based on your account type:
- For Prepaid Users: Select Recharge History. Find the specific plan you wish to cancel and click on "View Details."
- For Postpaid Users (Pre-on-Post Recharges): Select Invoice History, then tap on "Recharge Transaction History." Locate the relevant plan and click on "View Details."
- Find the Cancel option: Look for the "Cancel" option on the next page.
- Check for Eligibility & Troubleshooting: Tap on the "Cancel Plan" option.
- If the "Cancel" option is NOT reflecting: The option may take up to 30 minutes to appear. Please refresh the app. If it still doesn't appear, log in to Jio.com to check. Remember: You must complete this within the 3-hour window.
However, if you are still within the 3-hour window and cannot see the option in the app, please immediately log in to Jio.com via a browser and attempt to initiate the cancellation from there - If you see an Error Message after clicking Cancel: This indicates that the plan is no longer eligible to be cancelled (either the time limit has passed, or usage was detected)
- If the "Cancel" option is NOT reflecting: The option may take up to 30 minutes to appear. Please refresh the app. If it still doesn't appear, log in to Jio.com to check. Remember: You must complete this within the 3-hour window.
- Select Your Refund Method: If eligible, you will be asked to choose how you want your money back:
- Option A (Fastest): Instant reversal to your MyJio Store Credit wallet. This is immediate and can be used for your next correct recharge
- Option B: Refund to the original payment method (UPI, Bank, or Card). Note: It may take up to 21 business days for the funds to appear in your account
- Confirm & Notify: Once confirmed, you will receive a notification that the transaction is cancelled
- Track Your Refund: You can track the status of the recharge later by visiting the same page and clicking "Refund Status."
Recommendation: Once the reversal is initiated, we advise you to immediately recharge with the correct plan to continue enjoying uninterrupted services.
Note:
The MyJio Store Credit is a digital wallet designed for instant use on Jio services only. It cannot be transferred back to a bank account or withdrawn as cash.
If clicking "Cancel" results in a "Request Failed" or other error, it means the plan is no longer eligible for cancellation due to system checks—typically because the allowed cancellation window has passed or usage has already been detected.
